TAKING A DRAG



The act of smoking is very simple. You puff, inhale the smoke, hold it in slightly, and then exhale. But why do people say, "I love smoking so much!" when it makes them ill? What's so great about it? Nothing is great about it, it's the nicotine they're after. It's all about getting their fix.

When you ask people why they love the act so much, many will tell you they think it's the coolest thing on Earth.

Have you ever watched someone smoke from a distance? Try it. Watch them pace back and forth, looking around. Watch them inhale deeply, and then exhale in the opposite direction. Count how many drags they take before the cigarette is finished. Do you think they look cool? Do you wish you were outside with them? Hopefully not.

When I quit, all I did at the beginning was watch my friends and co-workers go outside to enjoy their 5-minute fix. I'd watch every little detail about what they did, how they'd hold it, and where they'd exhale. I wasn't envious of them one bit. All they seemed to do was pace back and forth, probably deeply in thought, take a few puffs and put it out, only to hurry back in to work. Only now, they smelled like an astray. Is that cool? Not in my world.

Of course they'll say, "Oh, but I needed one just to get me by." At this point, do you think they're smoking because they love the act of it, or that their body it addicted? The latter is most definitely right.

It has nothing to do with loving it or not loving it. It has to do with nicotine. If you take THAT out of a cigarette, do you think people would still love inhaling and exhaling? Absolutely not! It would be a horrible taste. They only love it because they are feeding their body nicotine. It's really as simple as that.

When you stop, and go for a number of weeks or months, you don't miss it at all. It isn't something you look back on and think, "I miss inhaling so much, I wish I could go back." You won't think that at all.

My breathing has increased by so much. Exercise is better, running is easier, and sleeping is so much fun. Those things you take for granted as a smoker, but once you stop, you realize how important it is to breathe.

Take a look at tobacco users and watch them. How many times are they coughing? How many times are they spitting phlegm on the street? How many times do they pace back and forth?

You may think it's feels great to inhale, but what is actually going on? The more you smoke, the more coughing you will do, and the more phlegm you're going to spit out onto the street.

Is that how you want to live? Let's not even go into how bad the ashtray smell is, it's disgusting. Of course they don't realize how bad it is because they can't smell themselves. Tobacco has paralyzed their sense of smell.

Bottom line: When you're puffing away, you're only harming yourself, and becoming more addicted. Quit for good, and you'll never want to go back. You'll never want to smell the stench ever again. Your cough will go away, and you'll never think, "I wish I could go back."

Why?

Because you'll be much more healthier. Your life will be 100% better than before. You won't want to go back! You'll look at those people outside and laugh at them. Watch them pace back and forth in the freezing cold. You no longer have to deal with that. Smell them when they come inside. THAT'S what you smelled like for years and years.
